At Ostroski Plumbing & Heating, being a local, family-owned business means more to us than simply serving the homes in our community. We believe it also means finding ways to give back and support organizations that are making a difference.
One organization that has become very close to our hearts is Big Wave Dog Rescue.
About Big Wave Dog Rescue
Big Wave Dog Rescue began serving animals in need in 2023. Based in Massachusetts, Big Wave is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, foster-based animal rescue run with the help of dedicated volunteers and foster families.
Their mission is to help change the tides for homeless and at-risk animals. Big Wave works closely with rescue partners in Mississippi, where overcrowded shelters often have more animals than available homes. They help bring these animals to New England while also supporting local animals who need a fresh start.
Because Big Wave does not operate a traditional public shelter, foster families are an incredibly important part of their organization. These families provide a safe place for rescued animals to decompress, adjust to life in a home, receive care and ultimately prepare for their forever families.
How Our Family Became Involved
Our relationship with Big Wave became personal in 2024, when our family began fostering dogs through the rescue.
Fostering gave us a firsthand look at everything that happens behind the scenes to save an animal.
Before many of these dogs even arrive in Massachusetts, there are veterinary appointments, health certificates, transportation arrangements and other expenses. Once they arrive, Massachusetts quarantine requirements, veterinary care, food, medications, supplies and foster homes all become part of helping each animal begin its new life.
Then comes one of the most important parts — finding the right family to love them forever.
Seeing this process firsthand made us realize just how much work goes into every single rescue story.
We Want to Do More
Fostering was the beginning for our family, but we knew we wanted to do more.
Ostroski Plumbing & Heating is proud to support Big Wave Dog Rescue through a yearly financial donation to help continue their rescue efforts.
As our business grows, we want our ability to give back to the community to grow along with it.
Donations to Big Wave help support things such as veterinary care, transportation, Massachusetts quarantine expenses, food, supplies and the everyday needs of animals waiting for their forever homes.
This is more than a sponsorship for us.
We have welcomed Big Wave dogs into our own home. We have watched them arrive unsure of what comes next, begin to trust, become part of a family and eventually leave for the homes they were meant to find.
We know firsthand what these donations help make possible.

That's What We Do
