Spring/Summer season is here! This is a great time to give your house a look over. With Spring comes to rain, and possible pipe leaks. Think of this as part of your spring/summer cleaning checklist (from a plumber's point of view). Some areas to Check are listed down below.

For the kitchen and bathrooms check all faucets for any leaks. Repairing these will help save water and money.
Make sure you have strainers in each of your drains. Strainers prevent the buildup of hair & soap which can clog your drains.

Check your toilets to make sure they flush properly. If you have to hold down or jiggle the knob you should replace the parts of the toilet which are responsible for flushing. These parts do not cost much, and you will save water and money.

Clean your showerhead using vinegar. This will remove mineral deposits and improve the flow of water.
Have you checked the temperature setting on your water heater? It should be set no higher than 120°F to prevent scalding and reduce energy use.

To flush out corrosion causing sediments that can reduce heating efficiency, carefully drain several gallons from the water heater tank. Always check your water heater manufacturer’s website for specific instructions concerning your make and model.

Is your water heater more than 15 years old? It could be time to consider replacing it. Don’t know how old it is?? The first four numbers of the serial number represent the month and year it was made. Newer water heaters are more energy-efficient, which saves water & money!!

Make sure flammables are not stored near the water heater or heater.
